Odeon Limitless Card Review – One year on was it worth it?

Getting the Odeon Limitless card was the best thing I ever did as a self-confessed cinephile.  Keep reading to find out whether you should invest in an Odeon Limitless membership.

Going to the cinema can become an expensive hobby if you want to go regularly. Thankfully, there are cinema memberships out there offering to cut the cost. You have Odeon Limitless and Cineworld Unlimited for our multiplex cinemas. EVERYMAN and The Electric Cinema (Birmingham) also offer free tickets or discounted tickets and food for an annual fee.

Odeon cinema tickets range between £7.75 to £11.25 per film. If you watch two films a month you’ve already spent more than the £17.99 monthly fee.  I don’t know about you but there’s nothing worse than spending more than a tenner on a film that turns out to be rubbish. With my Odeon Limitless card I can afford to be less cautious with the films I choose to watch. I have been pleasantly surprised by films I normally would have skipped which I thoroughly enjoyed!

What is the Odeon Limitless card?

The Odeon Limitless card is a membership scheme that allows the member to watch as many films as they want in a calendar year for a fee. On joining, you’re sent a temporary card that you can use immediately while you wait for your fancy shiny card to come through the post. This card will include your photo, unique member number and a magnetic strip you can use to collect your Limitless tickets from self-service machines. As it includes your photo, there is no sharing your card with other people.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the card depends on your circumstances. If you are a Blue Light Card member then you can get your Limitless membership for £156 upfront. Without this discount your membership will cost £202 upfront versus paying monthly which equates to £215.88 for the year.

What are the cons?

How many films did I see with the Odeon Limitless card?

I saw 61 films from July 2018 to July 2019 which without my membership would cost £686.25. I find the autumn season is the best time of year for cinema.

Would I renew Limitless?

I definitely would as I love film and going to the cinema. If you’re like me then this card will bring you a lot of joy. I enjoy watching films with my dedicated film fans who are also members. My Limitless card has been a God-send when needing some alone time, too. I love having the freedom to watch what I want when I want without having to worry about the cost.

So what do you think? Will you be investing in a cinema membership?

I am also a cinephile, I go to odeon/cineworld all the time! I have been getting away with using 2 for 1 codes lately but you’ve swung me towards investing in a card. Thanks for sharing 😊

    • Hi Emily 🙂
      Awesomeee, which do you prefer?
Ooo, have I?! Let me know how you get on with it over the next few months 🙂

Ooh it’s hard to say, we usually go to the cineworld as it’s a bit bigger and the parking is free but the odeon has nicer seats! 🙈 I will do, especially as there’s so many good films coming out soon 😊

  2. Great review. I am a member of one of the independent cinema chains as it is the closest to me but there is an Odeon a bit further away and so I might consider having one of their cards as presently I have been using a discount scheme through work for those occasions when I visit an Odeon. It’s always a bonus as a cinephiles knowing that you can watch as many films as you wish at your leisure!

    • Thanks L! 🙂
Oo, which indie membership do you have? If money were no object I’ve love to join with EVERYMAN as the cinema experience is lovely.
The card is great value for money for sure. For real, though!

  3. I’d love to have one of these and go all the time. I don’t get to go often but when I do I absolutely love it 😊

  4. 61 films!! You really got your money’s worth and it sounds like it was too much fun! I actually was thinking of doing this but we have Regal Cinemas offering it in my area. Glad to hear it turned out to be a good deal!!

    • It was! It would have cost me over £600 if I paid per ticket without the membership. I’ve renewed it now as it expired in July and I’m so glad I did not have to pay for the rubbish film that was The Informer. Pfft.
      What is Regal cinemas like?

I’m completely the same I have a cineworld unlimited card and it was the best investment! I probably go at least once a week

This is a brilliant review! Unfortunately I don’t have an Odeon local to me but I am very tempted to get a Cineworld Unlimited card for the New Year to see how it goes! I need more films in my life! Haha.

    • Thanks Daisy 🙂
I’d go with Cine if they’re near you. My friend has a Cine card and she shows off now because she’s got the black card and gets 25% food and 3D films for free 😉

I just got one. I can’t believe I didn’t realize this was a thing until now. I would’ve saved so much money over the years. I replaced my Netflix subscription to this and it’s so much more worth it.

Let me know what you think!
