Calling all lipstick lovers! There’s a new indie beauty brand on the scene. Yehmea Beauty is a UK-based indie cosmetic company. They currently produce five matte liquid lipsticks that are cruelty-free and range from reds to nudes. Yehmea Beauty approached me at Beauty Live last year and gifted me a matte liquid lipstick of my choice in exchange for an honest review.
Tangent Matte Liquid Lipstick
Yehmea Beauty’s Tangent is described as a deep red according to their website. On my skin tone (think MAC NC50 or Revlon Colorstay Caramel) it is more of a deep pink. I’m surprised by how much I like this colour on me as I normally wear dark vampy lipsticks.
I’ve included photos below of how Tangent Matte Liquid Lipstick looks on my skin tone and also a swatch.
Yehmea Beauty Positives
- Cruelty-free – in this day age with all the technological advances there is absolutely no need to be testing cosmetics on animals.
- Scent – Yehmea Beauty’s matte liquid lipstick has a nice toffee-like smell. If you’re sensitive to smells I wouldn’t describe it as off-putting or oppressive.
- Women of colour friendly – Yehmea Beauty’s Tangent really suits me and I’m surprised! I never thought I could pull off such a girly colour. I tend to steer clear of lipsticks that remind me of Barbie but I like this one and it’s a great colour for summer.
- Price – Tangent matte liquid lipstick retails for £12.99 which makes it closer to drugstore pricing. The majority of my matte lipsticks are by Urban Decay, Coloured Raine and NYX, with the most expensive being £15.50.
- Non-drying – some matte liquid lipsticks can be drying but this one is comfortable to wear.
Yehmea Beauty Improvements
- Ease of application. The doe-foot applicator doesn’t pick up a lot of product with each pump, so this isn’t a lipstick you could apply in a hurry. I’m sure with some tweaking this could be fixed.
- Pigmentation. I had to apply several coats to get an opaque finish.

I haven’t heard of this brand before, but I love that they’re cruelty-free! The lipstick is a pretty shade & it’s good to know it’s not drying on the lips!
